Be a part of our family puzzle!
Starting a family when you’re struggling with infertility is not only heartbreaking, it’s also expensive. Like stupid expensive. Unfortunately, the high costs of adoption and fertility treatments prevent so many wonderful and deserving couples from even trying. Asking friends and family for help is awkward and humbling.
When we started this journey, we were so optimistic. We are both healthy—maybe we just needed a little boost. We were sure that with the help of a doctor we would be able to start a family in no time. When we first signed the paperwork with the fertility clinic, we both had pits in our stomachs looking at the total for a three-round package of IVF. Insurance doesn’t cover anything infertility related, but certainly it would’t take that long to have a baby, right?! Surely, the credit card debt would be worth it the moment we first held our little bundle of joy.
Almost three years of various fertility treatments, including dozens of doctor visits, hundreds of shots, and thousands of other medications and supplements, haven’t gotten us any closer to that goal. We’ve done six rounds of in-vitro fertilization (IVF) and one round of intrauterine insemination (IUI), all culminating in three miscarriages.
We’ve held positive pregnancy tests in our hands only to see the lines fade a few days later. Our fridge has pictures of the little embryos that we hoped would become our babies. We’re blessed to have each other as we try to process the emotional rollercoaster and gut-wrenching losses.
We don’t know what God’s plan for our family is moving forward. We’re also considering options like egg donation, surrogacy, and adoption, but everything comes at an extremely high cost, and insurance doesn’t provide help for any of those options. So what do we do?
Then, a friend suggested we start a puzzle fundraiser.
How it works:
We purchased a 1,000-piece puzzle.
You can “sponsor” a piece for $10 each. You can choose to buy 1, 2, 3, or 20. There is no limit!
To purchase via PayPal, Venmo, or our GoFundMe click the links below (or email us for an address to send a check)
When you purchase a piece, we will write your name on the back of one of the puzzle pieces and send you a picture
Once every single piece has been “sponsored,” we will put the puzzle together and hang it in a double-sided glass frame so we can always look back and be reminded of who had a “piece” in helping to build our family.
The final image is what we want to experience for ourselves, “Family Embrace” by Gustav Klimt. We can imagine sitting down with our kids, reading the names to them and explaining these are all of the wonderful people who loved them before they even knew them. These are the people who brought them home.
We will keep this page updated with progress in the puzzle and a list of amazing donors (unless you’d like to remain anonymous). Our goal with this Puzzle Fundraiser is to sell all 1,000 pieces which will help us with the crazy debt this journey has brought us so far, and help make a plan to move forward with our dream of starting a family. We’d be honored, humbled, and so grateful to have you as a part of our story.
The easiest way to contribute is by electronic transfer by Venmo, PayPal, or with the GoFundMe page generously set up by a friend from church. Please be sure to include your name along with your contribution so we know who to add to our puzzle pieces. If you’d prefer to stay anonymous, please know how grateful we are to have your support and prayers. The other amazing thing you could do to help is spread the word. Share this with your families and friends. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We love you 🖤
